That’s right, this year Levi and the crew at BIBS are putting together a slightly different kind of contest. Here’s the skinny:

Contestants will meet up for a BBQ at Fort, at a time to be determined, and at which time, teams of four will recieve a disposable camera. Everyone will then have a week to fill up the camera, taking pictures of at least ten different street spots. The developed photos will then be posted on the BIBS site for everyone to vote on (the second most important vote you will cast in November). Prizes from BIBS and maybe others will be awarded for such categories as best trick for certain spots, best overall pic, funniest, most creative and best team portfolio.

If you’re wondering why everyone has to shoot with a crappy disposable camera instead of your 10 MP DSLR camera with 10.5 mm Nikkor DX Fisheye lens, well it’s simple. Not everyone has your bitchin’ camera setup, and this way, the field is level, so to speak, and the riding and photo conception will have to rise above the age of wide-angle lenses and Photoshop. If you ask me, it’s a pretty cool idea.

So keep posted for updates, like I said, the start date hasn’t been set in stone quite yet, and all I really know is it will most likely be at Fort (where else), there will be BBQ and there will also be a $10 entry fee per team (to pay for the cameras and the BBQ).
